BETTER SKIN AFTER 50

At this point in life, you are wiser with confidence. Unfortunately, many of our hormones are not keeping up with us. Lower levels of estrogen make your skin more prone to thinning, sagging, and wrinkling. Menopause also depletes and slows down your ability to make collagen, you lose some fat under your skin and build it up in other areas that we all dislike.

This combined with dryness caused by hormonal changes increase fine lines and wrinkles, create a thicker neck, looser jawline, and cheeks that aren’t quite where they used to be. And let’s not forget about those pesky lip lines. Where did they come from?

Believe me, I understand the frustration so what can we do about it?

It is time to CHANGE OUR CLEANSING ROUTINE. Most of us will benefit from more hydrating cream, oil or gel cleansers. We need a much gentler and moisturizing cleansing routine. Products like the Cleanse Sensi, Cleanse N/D, Cleanse S/D are perfect for the job.

After menopause, our skin will become drier because our oil glands are not as active. It is time to HYDRATE, and we need growth factors, peptides, Vitamin C and ceramides to create glowing skin. Sun protection is extremely important and should be the final step of your cleansing routine. Many sunscreens are now created with tint for coverage and hydrating ingredients.

EXFOLIATION Becomes more important as our upper skin layer is severely dehydrated and sits there about 50 days until it sheds off. It is vital to use a gentle exfoliating brush with a gentle scrub 2-3 times per week. In place of stronger AHA’s (alpha hydroxy acids) we now want to switch to Lactic Acid which is a moisturizing molecule. This provides a perfect canvas for those rich creams to enter and hydrate rather than laying on top of a dead skin barrier. The Refine Scrub and BT Brush are excellent choices.

THOSE DARN BROWN AND RED SPOTS are the reminders of the sun damage acquired many years ago. It is important to see a dermatologist every year on your birthday, get your birthday suit checked out head to toe. Once you have ruled out any possible skin cancers, it is time to work on suppressing the pigment that makes these. We want to use products rich in Tranexamic Acid, Daisy Root, Kojic Acid, Lactic Acid. There are many natural choices available to combat these spots, but they all require daily use. Try The Brighten Serum, Bright Radiant & Clarify C/O/A/P
